Valencia Basket opens its tenth EuroLeague campaign by returning to Besiktas Istanbul’s court 25 years later

Valencia Basket men’s team begins its EuroLeague 2026–27 campaign with an away game against Besiktas Istanbul (Friday 25, 7:00 p.m., Turkcell Basketball Development Center, M+ Baloncesto), in the opening round of Europe’s top competition. This will be the first time these two clubs meet in the EuroLeague; the only previous encounter dates back more than 25 years, in a Saporta Cup knockout tie.
Valencia Basket will start the competition away from home for the third time, having achieved its first-ever opening-round road win last season. Mario Saint-Supéry, Álvaro Cárdenas, and Mo Gueye could make their EuroLeague debuts, as they are included in the 13-man squad that has traveled to Turkey. That group also features the three big men absent from the Supercopa Endesa: Neal Sako, Nikola Mirotic, and Jasiel Rivero.
